The Sun Family

At a young age alumna Amy Sun '12, Alan Sun '16 and Anna Sun’19 visited a nearby nursing home in Canton and saddened to discover the hard life that nursing home senior residents have to endure every day. Most of them were in wheelchairs, so they had a limited amount of entertainment to enjoy. Many of them were waiting in the hallway next to their room all day long, hoping that somebody would visit them. They want to help and bring joy to those seniors. They invited and organized a group of musically talented friends periodically visit local nursing homes and senior centers and to perform music there, especially during holiday seasons starting from 2006. During last 9 years the group visited over 15 nursing homes and senior centers around metro Detroit with over 100 free concerts and gifts. Over 1000 local seniors were benefited. During 2014 holiday season alone they along with Lydia Wang '16, Richard Hou '16, Elbert Yi '19, and Madeleine Yang ’19 visited and performed 10 free music concerts in 9 nursing homes and senior centers in Canton, Plymouth, Novi, Westland and Bloomfield.
