Soil Sisters: A Celebration of Wisconsin Farms and Rural Life

Three days. Five components. Over twenty women-owned farms. From eggplants to sheep, from solar energy to farmstay bed & breakfasts to pastured beef, Soil Sisters provides a unique diversity of distinct farm experiences that celebrate local foods and sustainable agriculture, land stewardship and the growth of women-owned farms in Wisconsin. The collaborative weekend-long annual August event in Green County launched in 2012 and continues strong into this year: August 5-7, 2016.Soil Sisters provides a public platform to connect travelers with Wisconsin farms championing land stewardship. It also successfully taps into three of the fastest growing industry segments: Agriculture: women-owned and operated farms sustainable farms• Food industry: local and organic food and fiber movement• Tourism: agritourism, ecotourism, culinary & enrichment travel. Soil Sisters celebrates Green County's rich agricultural heritage alongside the growing nationwide interest in organic and sustainable farming, farmers markets and local food by providing a weekend filled with a diversity of unique on-farm, family-friendly experiences for the public, from farm tours to workshops to farm-to-table culinary events.
